Finding Books is hard...

I'm searching for a book to read in English classes. Probably I'll take Guantánamo Boy by Anna Perera, I heard so much about Guantánamo Bay on the news lately, that I'm curious enough to read a book with over 350 pages. And that's really something for me, since my record is about 150 pages... Well, I'll start in it, and I'll see how far I come ;).

Blink 182: The Reunion of Punkrock!

I read many relieved reactions underneath the article about the reunion of Blink 182. “Finally a comeback” and “OMG! I hope they come to Hungary!”impressed me the most. I was very ecstatic too about this breaking news in the Rock-industry. I’ve been a fan for over 7 years now (since their song ‘First Date’ in 2002), and was totally devastated when I heard about the break-up. On YouTube I saw interviews with Mark Hoppus (bass, vocals) just after the break-up in which he told about Tom Delonge (guitar, vocals): “In the end he was just sitting next to his manager, he didn’t talk to us anymore: his manager did that for him”. He also said: “He didn’t even call us himself, to say he was out of the band: it was his manager again…”. I have never seen Mark more miserable than during that specific interview. To my amazement he was not the only one who was upset : Tom Delonge himself said in another interview that he wanted to put his family in the first place but that Mark and Travis (Drummer) didn’t appreciate that. Of course this is mostly making furor by the media but looked to me very emotional for Tom. He had to blink (؟) his eyes to prevent himself from weeping.

After four years of separation, too many fans yearned for a reunion. And so they did: with their new single ‘Up All Night’ they started of their ’09 tour in America together which bands such as Fall Out Boy and Weezer. It all started to look like before: sold-out stadiums, recording new singles and planning some new tours. Their simplicity of songs still impresses Las Vegas. While other bands try all sorts of complex riffs (main structure of a song), Blink 182 still uses no more than 4 power chords (a chord consisting of only the root note of the chord and the fifth). But anyhow they don’t want to compare themselves to such bands as Green Day or Jimmy Eat World, which are quiet comparable actually. But no, Mark, Tom & Travis want to play their instruments write new albums and make the crowd go crazy.

And probably that’s what they’ll do the upcoming years too. They’re already in the studios for writing some new hits and they have already confirmed 2 concerts in Germany. There’s also a great chance they might come to either Pinkpop, Groezrock, Pukkelpop or Rock Werchter. Personally, I really hope so. I’ve seen how much Blink-fans Belgium has and they just deserve to have their idols performing on one of the amazing open-air concerts they have. Although I don’t live in Belgium but in Breda (Netherlands) I will definitely buy my entrance ticket to one of those, and so should you!
